A juicy Kenyan coffee with notes of blackcurrant, red apple and rhubarb. Bright acidity, vibrant fruit character and a clean, elegant finish.
Gakuyu-ini PB comes from Kirinyaga, on the slopes of Mount Kenya, where smallholder farmers from the Thirikwa Farmers Cooperative Society deliver their ripe coffee cherries to the Gakuyu-ini washing station. The coffee is grown at elevations of approximately 1,500–1,900 metres, where the conditions help develop the complexity and distinctive character of Kenyan coffees.
PB stands for peaberry — a naturally occurring coffee bean in which a single rounded seed develops inside the cherry instead of the usual two. After harvesting, the cherries are carefully sorted and the coffee is processed using the washed method. Fermentation and washing help bring clarity to the cup and highlight the vibrant fruit character associated with Kenyan coffees.
Expect pronounced notes of blackcurrant and red apple, complemented by juicy rhubarb and a delicate floral touch. Bright, fruit-driven acidity meets the sweetness of ripe fruit, creating a clean, lively and layered cup. A coffee that shines particularly well when brewed as a filter.
