Kiwabo, meaning “bloom,” is a naturally processed coffee from Bulambuli in Eastern Uganda. It comes from smallholder farmers growing coffee at altitudes of 1,700–2,300 metres. The cherries are processed at Bulambuli Washing Station, established in 2022 by our long-term partner Ibero.
The natural process brings out the coffee’s juicy fruit character and sweetness. Expect notes of strawberry jam, red berries and darker purple fruits, balanced by a refreshing touch of grapefruit. Caramel, milk chocolate and a delicate cocoa finish create a sweet, rounded cup with a cupping score of 86.8 points.
Kiwabo showcases the potential of Ugandan specialty coffee. High-altitude growing conditions, careful processing and close collaboration with local farmers come together in a distinctive coffee full of fruit, sweetness and character.
