Almibar #10 - Colombia

Almibar is a communal blend from Central Huila, Colombia, created in collaboration with Coocentral — the region's leading cooperative. Sixteen smallholder farmers contributed to this lot, working farms at elevations between 1,400 and 2,000 metres above sea level, and the name Almibar marks a new concept of shared, value-added production that Nordic Approach has been developing together with Coocentral.

In the cup, apple jam and orange zest builds into a rounded finish of cacao. A cupping score of 87.8 reflects the quality this collaborative model can achieve.

The coffee is a washed Castillo from the 2025 crop. Coocentral, with nearly four thousand members, has invested in social programmes for its growers since 2005 — covering healthcare, education, and pension funds — while ensuring farmers receive one hundred percent of any premium paid above daily market prices.
