La Perla is a specialty coffee from Peru developed by the Norcafé Cooperative, representing the work of a group of women from the Lonya Grande region. The project focuses on supporting women in coffee-growing communities through education and greater economic independence. With a strong emphasis on quality, transparency, and fair practices, this coffee delivers not only an excellent cup but also a meaningful story of collaboration and community development.
The coffee is grown at altitudes of 1600–1800 meters above sea level, where ideal conditions allow for slow cherry maturation and the development of a complex flavor profile. Farmers cultivate traditional varieties such as Bourbon, Catuaí, and Pache, and harvesting is done entirely by hand with careful selection of only fully ripe cherries. This meticulous approach translates into clarity and balance in the cup.
In the cup, La Perla offers a classic Peruvian profile with a gentle, well-balanced acidity, natural sweetness, and notes of ripe fruit complemented by a chocolatey finish. Its elegance and sweetness make it well suited for espresso.
