El Martillo #1 is a 19.5-hectare farm located at 1700 meters in the hills of Ahuachapán, El Salvador, and part of the Salaverria family’s long-standing coffee tradition. As sixth-generation producers, the Salaverrias have combined heritage with innovation, developing a reputation for excellence and sustainability in Salvadoran coffee.

This lot is an anaerobic natural, crafted from Bourbon and Híbrido de San Francisco, a local hybrid of Bourbon Elite and Pacas. The cherries were selectively handpicked at peak ripeness, fermented for 80 hours in sealed tanks, and carefully dried on patios. The result is a process that enhances both sweetness and complexity while highlighting the unique character of the farm.

In the cup, El Martillo #1 shines with playful and expressive flavors. Notes of bubblegum, banana candy, guava, and red berry cordial unfold with a delicate floral touch of rose water, balanced by cacao nibs and a winey finish. With a cupping score of 87, this coffee is a vibrant expression of both tradition and innovation, and a true testament to the Salaverria family’s craft.
