This outstanding Kenyan coffee comes from the Kii Factory, one of three wet mills operated by the Rung’eto Farmers Cooperative Society in the renowned coffee-growing region of Kirinyaga, Central Kenya. The cooperative, with around 950 members, has been dedicated to quality production since its formation and has partnered with Nordic Approach since 2016. The Kii Factory benefits from ideal conditions on the slopes of Mount Kenya—rich volcanic Nitisol soil and a cool climate—which contribute to the intense and complex cup profile.

The coffee is a blend of traditional Kenyan varieties including SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian, processed using the washed method. After meticulous hand-sorting, the cherries are pulped, fermented for up to 36 hours in shaded tanks, and washed before drying on raised beds for up to 20 days. The Rung’eto Cooperative has implemented various quality measures, including tiled fermentation tanks and water recycling systems, ensuring clean and consistent results year after year.

With a cupping score of 88, AA Rung’eto Kii #015 delivers a juicy and vibrant flavor experience. Expect deep notes of plum, blackberry, black tea, and heavy brown sugar, wrapped in a sparkling acidity with hints of citrus and tropical fruit. This is a truly expressive Kenyan coffee, perfect for those who love clarity, brightness, and depth in the cup.
