Café Don Senel comes from the Brunca region of Costa Rica and is produced by the Campos family at their small family-run wet mill, founded in 2014. Grown at high altitude and based primarily on the Catuai variety, this coffee reflects the family’s careful approach to farming, with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and hands-on production.
The project began when low cherry prices pushed the Campos family to take control of their own processing. By selectively harvesting only the ripest cherries and experimenting with small-scale processing, they quickly proved their potential when their first lots scored above 86 points. This success marked the beginning of Café Don Senel as a dedicated specialty coffee producer.
This lot is processed using a honey method, with all mucilage left on the parchment and no additional water used. Drying is carried out slowly on raised beds over 12–15 days, starting in very thin layers to limit fermentation and ensure a clean cup. The result is a sweet, well-balanced coffee with clarity and structure that highlights the careful work behind each lot.
