Estrella Divina – Peru

Estrella Divina is a communal producer blend developed in partnership with Origin Coffee Lab, highlighting the potential of high-altitude farms in the Rumpite village of northern Peru. Named after the Spanish term for "divine star," this blend represents a shared commitment to quality and sustainability, involving around 72 small-scale producers. Since its launch in 2017, the project has focused on improving coffee quality through better post-harvest practices and farm management, recently enhanced by Origin’s Solidario program, which offers training, financial support, and technical guidance to producers.

The coffee cherries for Estrella Divina are grown at optimal elevations where the unique microclimate—warm air from the Rumipite plains meeting cool mountain breezes—fosters ideal growing conditions. Producers primarily cultivate Bourbon, Caturra, Pache, and Catuai varieties, employing controlled fermentation and drying techniques based on sunlight exposure. These practices, coupled with planned introductions of new varieties like Yellow Caturra, are part of the project's ongoing strategy to elevate quality and consistency across harvests.

As part of a broader sourcing initiative in Peru, Estrella Divina represents our focus on transparency, traceability, and community impact. With Origin Coffee Lab’s on-the-ground support, producers receive fair premiums and feedback that help them invest further in their farms. The resulting cup is vibrant and balanced, offering garden fruit and apple-like acidity, soft herbal notes, and a smooth finish with hints of biscuit and dried fruit sweetness—a true reflection of the care and collaboration behind each lot.
