El Bambu is a washed Catuai lot from Joicafe, a wet mill run by Wendy Alvarado and her sisters in the highlands of Chirripó. Grown on their 7-hectare farm in Vista de Rivas, this coffee benefits from high elevation, rich soil, and a cool climate—ideal conditions for producing high-quality micro-lots.
Named after the bamboo shoots lining a creek on the farm, El Bambu is carefully harvested at peak ripeness, fermented, washed, and dried on raised beds for 10–12 days. The Alvarado family’s attention to detail ensures a clean, sweet cup with vibrant clarity.
Dry milling is handled by relatives next door, allowing full control from cherry to export. El Bambu is a reflection of Joicafe’s commitment to quality and their role in transforming Chirripó into a respected origin for specialty coffee.
