Riara Coffee Estate was established in 1973 under the board of trustees of KIST (Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology). Today, the farm is still part of the Institute and is being leased by Tropical Farm Management. Most of the trees are of the SL 28 variety.
This anaerobic natural has been fermented in plastic bags and dried on raised beds.
