The concept behind "Recolectores" coffee is to acknowledge and appreciate the crucial role of coffee pickers in the coffee supply chain. Despite their significant contribution, pickers often face challenging conditions and receive inadequate wages. In Colombia, the work of a coffee picker is dangerous and demanding, leading many to seek alternative employment opportunities.

To address this issue, we have collaborated with the exporter and local cooperative to establish a program. The cooperative facilitates training for a selected group of pickers and identifies farmers who will participate in the project. As buyers, we commit to paying a premium for the coffee to cover the additional costs associated with ensuring pickers receive a fair and improved salary.

This initiative not only promotes integrity in the coffee supply chain by ensuring fair compensation for pickers but also has the potential to enhance the quality of the coffee. With better wages, pickers can focus on meticulous cherry selection, resulting in higher-quality beans.
