peach, black tea, lemon

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

The area this washing station is located is in the borders of the Bale mountain forest, the coffee growing in this area benefits from the densely shaded forest. The altitude here ranges between 1900 - 2100 masl and there are 742 farmers who deliver cherry to the washing station.

This station used to be sourced through a vertically integration agreement with the Haji Betro Wet Mill. Much hasn’t been known about Riripa rather than its densely shaded forestry located within the borders of the Bale mountain forest to the northeast. The area stood out as one of the best for growing coffee gave the abundance of rainfall early in the season and occasional showers towards the harvest. Haji Betro hails from the Dodola town which is 45 Km away from Shashemene town. Haji has long been in contact with our supplier for the partnership on the new wet mill which was just constructed in 2019.

Harvest started in all the major growing regions of Ethiopia in early November. Yields were high, time to maturity short and window for picking closing by the end of December in some areas. The beginning of a civil war in the north in late November did not affect the coffee industry. Parchment started arriving in January and qualities were seen in early February.

The cherries are pulped by a traditional Agaarde Discpulper. Skin and fruit pulp are removed before the machine grades the parchment in water as 1st or 2nd quality, determined by density. Wet fermentation for 72 hours.

The main reason we buy this coffee is simply that we love the profile. They are very often super distinct and characteristic.
