Bomu la Matunda – Kenya

banana, Caribean rum, coconut

  • Filter

Naturally processed Kenya. This is your one-of-a-kind opportunity to taste something completely different. The natural fermentation brings out lactic flavors which give some of the fruit a tropical smoothie character like banana and coconut. This coffee is fruit-forward with super winey and lots of mature fruit.

The history of the farm goes back to the 1940s when the family of Mr. EW D’Ollier owned the farm. The D’Olliers used to process and mill their coffee as well as for the neighboring small-scale farmers. In 1976, they sold the farm to Gatatha Farmers Co Ltd who ran the farm until now.

This coffee is naturally processed and it is very unusual to find such processed coffee in Kenya. Right after harvesting, the cherries are handpicked. Only the best cherries are used to produce this unique natural processed coffee. The cherries are then dried between 21 and 35 days.
