Bomba de Fruta – Colombia

pineapple, mango, caribbean rum

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

La Joya is the name of Yermy Predraza’s farm, and Nordic Approach first bought coffee from Yermy in 2017 through a collaboration with the cooperative Cafe Occidente. This year they have asked some of the producers in Nariño to create natural lots, in order to get even more of the fruit characteristics out of the coffees. Nordic calls this concept "Bomba de Fruta" and they plan to blend smaller lots from different farmers throughout the year.  However, this lot is solely from Yermy.

Yermy's farm is located at 1950 masl in the municipality of Chachagui, Nariño. He works with his family on the farm to grow Castillo, Caturra, and Typica varieties. The Caturra he grows are the oldest trees on the farm, and in more recent years he also planted Castillo. This is a common example of producers combatting the risk of roja and loss of yield. His farm has a stream running through which is an important resource, the municipality Chachagui was originally called Chabchabi which translates to good water. The harvest at La Joya runs from May through to June and in some years into July as well.

This lot is specially processed by a natural method. The dry fermentation really brings out a lot of tropical flavors in his coffee and we can say that this coffee is funky and good.
